This is one of the best times of the year for several reasons.
1.Tons of Football!!!
2.No School!!!
3. Good Food!
4.Good times with family and friends!
4. Did I mention Football?
As you can see I do one main thing this time of year, spend time with friends and family watching football and eating. I even went to the extent the other day of explaining to my sister (who is not a huge fan of sports) that if you don't watch football this time of year specifically new years day then you are a Communist (that did not go over so well) and that this is why we are going to our unlce's house and watching football ALL day! I CAN'T WAIT!!! My prediction for the Iowa game has changed a little bit, I originally thought they would win by two touchdowns (I still think this may happen) but I think a 10 point win is more realistic for the hawks, good luck and have a good flight home!
While reading TV9's Matt Nelson's blog about the Outback bowl he noted that members of the Iowa Football team were given the keys to the city by the Mayor of Clear water. The mayor gave a little speech and attempted to make a joke...or so everyone thought. "You know two things that Clear water and Ames have in common..." Mr. Nelson did not hear the rest of it but the he said the Mayor thought that the University of Iowa was in Ames, Please sir don't disrespect us like that EVER AGAIN, Thank You from the Fans and supporters of Iowa State.
The last 12 months have been hard for Cyclone fans, we had two good teams. The volleyball team made the sweet16 last year and got to the elite 8 this year, great job girls! The women's basketball team led by one of the best coaches in the business overcame adversity to make it to the sweet 16 themselves, Coach Fennely and the Twister Sisters keep up the good work and make us proud! Coach Rhoads continues to build his staff bringing back former Secondary coach Chris Ash, a great hire. Coach Ash had one of the top secondaries in the country in his first tenure at ISU from 2000-2006. I am sure the next year will be a great year Athletically, Academically, and in the research field for all of Iowa State University!
This is also the time of year to reflect on what you have done this past year and what you will change for the coming year. The past year has been particularly hard for a lot of people across the state. I feel blessed that I my property was not affected by any but the TV station that I intern at was and it really opened my eyes to what was happening to so many people. The weather that occurred this past year was awesome in a meteorological view, it will always amaze me how mother natures fury forms. For all those that are struggling or are worried about the year ahead (myself included) you need to remember one quote by a local Priest whose church building was destroyed by the flood. "Do not fear the future, for god is already there." Take that as you wish but just remember that it will all be okay in the end. GO STATE!!! GOD BLESS!!!

I don't know who told the news guy that, but it was after all the football players had left. And the funny thing was that he didn't mention anything about the University of Iowa.
