This is one of the best times of the year for several reasons.
1.Tons of Football!!!
2.No School!!!
3. Good Food!
4.Good times with family and friends!
4. Did I mention Football?
As you can see I do one main thing this time of year, spend time with friends and family watching football and eating. I even went to the extent the other day of explaining to my sister (who is not a huge fan of sports) that if you don't watch football this time of year specifically new years day then you are a Communist (that did not go over so well) and that this is why we are going to our unlce's house and watching football ALL day! I CAN'T WAIT!!! My prediction for the Iowa game has changed a little bit, I originally thought they would win by two touchdowns (I still think this may happen) but I think a 10 point win is more realistic for the hawks, good luck and have a good flight home!
While reading TV9's Matt Nelson's blog about the Outback bowl he noted that members of the Iowa Football team were given the keys to the city by the Mayor of Clear water. The mayor gave a little speech and attempted to make a joke...or so everyone thought. "You know two things that Clear water and Ames have in common..." Mr. Nelson did not hear the rest of it but the he said the Mayor thought that the University of Iowa was in Ames, Please sir don't disrespect us like that EVER AGAIN, Thank You from the Fans and supporters of Iowa State.
The last 12 months have been hard for Cyclone fans, we had two good teams. The volleyball team made the sweet16 last year and got to the elite 8 this year, great job girls! The women's basketball team led by one of the best coaches in the business overcame adversity to make it to the sweet 16 themselves, Coach Fennely and the Twister Sisters keep up the good work and make us proud! Coach Rhoads continues to build his staff bringing back former Secondary coach Chris Ash, a great hire. Coach Ash had one of the top secondaries in the country in his first tenure at ISU from 2000-2006. I am sure the next year will be a great year Athletically, Academically, and in the research field for all of Iowa State University!
This is also the time of year to reflect on what you have done this past year and what you will change for the coming year. The past year has been particularly hard for a lot of people across the state. I feel blessed that I my property was not affected by any but the TV station that I intern at was and it really opened my eyes to what was happening to so many people. The weather that occurred this past year was awesome in a meteorological view, it will always amaze me how mother natures fury forms. For all those that are struggling or are worried about the year ahead (myself included) you need to remember one quote by a local Priest whose church building was destroyed by the flood. "Do not fear the future, for god is already there." Take that as you wish but just remember that it will all be okay in the end. GO STATE!!! GOD BLESS!!!

Tidbits
Well Christmas is pretty much over, I still have one left hopefully that will happen tomorrow. I was kind of a grinch and I apologize for that. I did get a cool hand held anemometer though. I guess I don't really have much to talk about.
The weather has been crazy the last couple days. Just this morning I woke up at 4 a.m. to my weather radio going off, for a Severe Thunderstorm Warning. I totally did not expect that. Then I get woken up by my sister at working at WMT wondering about an Ice Storm Warning...I was very confused. I do love how the weather is so unpredictable but it's just weird to be having a thunderstorm warning at the end of December.
Bowl season is here! I am excited to watch a good portion of these bowls. I will watch all of the bowls on new years day including the Iowa game. My prediction for the Iowa game is a hawkeye win by two touchdowns.
Since the ISU athletics website was down the other night here is the link to that video. http://tinyurl.com/7gp8og It is a must watch for Cyclone fans. Other than that I dont know what to say. Have a great weekend! GO STATE!!! GOD BLESS!!!

Christmas
I wish I could be a little kid again. I went sledding with some friends last night and had a blast, and then I got back in the car to go home and got welcomed back to the real world. I am having a really hard time getting into the Christmas spirit, I haven't wrapped any presents yet (so I better keep this short) and it just seems like it's not real. Maybe have been too caught up in work and things that don't matter but nothing is working, I tried driving around and looking at all the lights and stuff too.
I am sick and tired of all this happy holidays crap these days. IT'S FREAKING CHRISTMAS!!! There are several different traditions that you can believe in (Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and others) I really can not think of anyone that I know that will not be going to some Christmas type church ceremony tonight, I am going to two myself. I hate how we have to be so politically correct, do these people not realize why there is no school right now? Why they are here? Why everything happens? Today is the beginning of all that! Well it is depending on your belief, I highly suggest taking a religion class if your still in college. Two of my favorite Christmas songs are "Mary did you know", and "Strange way to save the world" if you have not heard these listen to them now.
Well I better go get stuff done. I wish you all a Merry Christmas, remember what those presents are about, think about more than just yourself and what you got your getting more than presents, your savior is born again and is here to save you! Oh and the weather will get interesting again Christmas night, stay safe with your travels. GO STATE!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS, AND GOD BLESS!!!

"Were going to hit you coming off the bus..."
I have had several people ask me what I think of ISU's new head football coach so here it is. I am PUMPED! I was slightly younger 10 years ago when he was coaching here, I have always bled cardinal and gold but didn't have the passion for it that I do now so I did not know who the coordinators and position coaches were. I had not heard of Paul Rhodes until Saturday morning while sitting at my sisters graduation from UNI (if you read this congratulations). A friend of mine from high school that is on the softball team at ISU texted me that Paul Rhodes was the new coach, I had to ask who he was. I got home in time to watch his press conference and I am very impressed with what he said. I never thought we would find someone who WANTED to be here and loved this place as much as we all do. I am sure he will do great things with the program, there is already a TON of talent in that locker room. I would also like to take the time now to welcome Darius "Money" Reynolds to the Cyclone family, he is a 5 star qb/wr from a juco in California. Overall I believe this was the best possible hire for ISU, I can not wait to see how things go at spring practice (okay paritially because I will be getting paid to watch/tape it). There is an awesome video on Cyclones.com, however the site is currently down for maintenence so I will update the blog later tonight with a link to it. If you are a Cyclone fan and your reading this (I know who you are) just remember, Everyday is a GREAT day to be alive and be a CYCLONE!!!
I need money but HATE working at target, thankfully I pretty much got to pick my hours and the days I am working over break, so I think I will work 3 days a week and take Christmas Eve off along with all of New Years. My blog on Wednesday will be about Christmas and how this time of year ticks me off sometimes. Time to head to work 12-8:30. GO STATE!!! GOD BLESS!!!

Oh the weather outside is frightful...
This week has been...Interesting. I am very happy to have finals over and done with, I got done Tuesday evening and was able to get home that night. It's AWESOME to be home for awhile, I almost forgot what this placed looked like. I love seeing my girlfriend and family, and having this awesome weather! However that is where the good things end. I work at Target when I am home, they tell me I cant get many hours due to their small payroll (I hate the economy), over Thanksgiving break my phone decided to delete all of it's memory to the point that it did not even know how to turn on so I went to U.S. Cell to see if it had gotten fixed, it had not and now I have to get a new phone I had been wanting a new phone but being a college student with almost no job it makes it really hard to buy things. Oh and to top it all off I brought my wireless router home so I could have internet access anywhere in my house, of course it does not work either, oh and now my laptop wont take any internet at all. If you know anything about technology and would like to help please give me a call. Oh and Linksys support are the biggest bunch of Indian idiots I have ever talked to, if I had the chance I would have punched him.
Maybe I should not have made that all into one big run on sentence/paragraph, did I learn anything in my English class this semester? My sister graduates from college tomorrow so we have to go back up to Cedar Falls one last time, it made me realize that I being the youngest child in the family, the only one left in college.
The coaching search goes on, I thought they would have a coach by today with the recruiting dead period starting on Monday but so far only rumors, but then again it is only 11 AM. Pollard will get a good one, when I say that I really mean "If it's Stoops or Barnett I will kill them and do my duty as a cyclone". Maybe I should go get some stuff done, like unpack all of my clothes or make my bed, or wrap my mom's birthday present. I hope everyone (does anybody even read this) has a great day, drive safe! GO STATE! GOD BLESS!

Because we knew you...
We have been changed for the better and for good. We will never know what made him change his mind but what has happened is done and we are moving on. Maybe Auburn did help us. We all feel bad and are dissapointed in what has happened the last five days, none of us more than Jamie Pollard though, his son was in the hospital last week and then got this piled on top of it. I am very proud to have him as our AD. Here is a link to his press conference today. http://tinyurl.com/5f2zk3 I really hope we come out of this with a new coach with the values that we want and he sticks those and will become a "loyal son forever true" (I think Turner Gill is the man to do this, even if he is a husker). If you thought Chizik would be here forever you are very nieve, we just didn't think this would happen this soon. If you want a really funny video here you go! http://www.overstream.net/view.php?oid=nhngm9tnmdlc
On a happier note I get to go home tomorrow...hopefully. The snow may change plans but I hope it holds off to the afternoon so it isn't too bad when I head home around 7 tomorrow night. I have two finals tomorrow only one is really a final though, Chemistry will be hard but I will get through it no matter what. Did I mention that I get to go home tomorrow? Sadly I have to work over break...not fun. I am however looking forward to being home for 26 DAYS!!! Not hours days, this will be the first time I have been home for more than a week since June, I'm pumped! It's looking like it will be a white Christmas as well! That's all that I can think of for now. GO STATE!!! God Bless!

Wow...
Well I wasn't planning on updating this early. It has been a long 24 hours that I never expected, Gene Chizik has left Iowa State. I do not currently know the terms or care. I thought we had a very good coach that was committed to us and wanted the best for the program, however now I just feel like I have been lied to for the past two years.
I am somewhat happy, I would rather have him leave now then have him build us up a little bit and once we got to a bowl game have him leave. The question now is though who do we get. My vote is for that Gill guy from Buffalo, he recruited very well into there so I imagine he would be able to do that here. Some people are saying that we should bring back mac, these are also the same people that bitched when we had a bad year and ultimately led to forcing him out of a place he truly loved. We will find out more in the coming hours and days, I just feel bad for our players and recruits because they are the ones who have been lied to the most.
It's dumbfounding though how this has all happened, just yesterday he was not even on the radar for the job. Not to mention that auburn fans do not want him and are very VERY upset with the choices being made.
Well it's time to get back to studying. I will always love my Cyclones (especially since they pay me) and everything god has given me. Have a good weekend, GO STATE! GOD BLESS!

Dead Week is Dead
That's right dead week is pretty much over! Which means I go home in FOUR DAYS!!! However that will be a LONG four days filled with constant studying for my chem final at 4:30 on Tuesday, prayers are appreciated.
Dead week has surprisingly flown by. I took my religion final this morning and feel that I did really well, a lot better than my midterm at least. Despite having to block out fights in the hall and people being idiots and running around yelling at 12:30 at night I feel that my night of studying went well. Speaking of fights, I'm going to the ISU vs. eiu (aka iowa) hockey game here in Ames tonight there better be a fight this week or I am really not going to be happy.
I have been doing more thinking lately (very dangerous) and have decided to add Meteorology as my minor. If anyone reads this that does not know, I started as a Meteorology major and decided that my abilities (or lack of) would make getting the degree here extremely hard and I would rather stay in the university then try and risk it, I felt that god was leading me in a direction that I believe is in my best interest. I have switched to Journalism and Mass Communication with an emphasis in electronic media. It was not an easy decision and I was very nervous about at the time. I plan to take an online meteorology program through Mississippi State to get a degree in Meteorology, I hope the addition of a meteorology minor will help me with that.
On a better note Christmas is almost here and I am very excited to see all my friends and family. It truly is my favorite time of year (ISU game days are a VERY close second) as we approach this time I hope everyone has a wonderful, safe time and remembers the true meaning of Christmas! GO STATE!!! GOD BLESS!!!

Dying during dead week
So it is now Wednesday of dead week, and I feel like I am almost dead. The constant studying and all the stress is just making me tired all the time. On the flip side, I am done with all of my final projects for the semester. I go home (hopefully) in six days, and I am done with my 8:00 am class!
The recent snowstorm proved to have been harder to predict than previously thought. I have no clue what ended up happening because I went to sleep and just did not care after that point with all of my studying. It looks like there be another wave coming in early next week, which is why I may not make it home on tuesday evening. Temperatures this weekend could make it into the mid to upper 30's possible getting near 40 on sunday. Which of course means if we get any precipitation it will again start as rain and change to freezing rain and possibly eventually snow as you get into monday night.
I have a confession to make, I am still completely in support of every athletic team on this campus, unlike some people. After looking at cyclonefanatic last night when we lost to Drake in mens basketball some people were saying Coach Mac needs to be fired and the season is over this and that. GET THE HELL OUT OF YOUR PARENTS BASEMENT AND COME TO THE FREAKING REAL WORLD!!! I don't care if it's Drake, they have done well the last year or two and look to not be doing too bad this year. I don't care if we blew 10+ point lead, the coach didn't blow it did he? Was the coach the one out there making poor decisions? I DIDN'T THINK SO!Greg McDermott is arguably the best mens basketball coach in the state, and he will get things done and turned around. You need at least 4 to 5 years to build a college program. TWO YEARS AND 8 GAMES IS NOT THE SAME AS 4-5 YEARS!!! Same thing goes for the football program. The womens basketball team (a.k.a. "The Twister Sisters") will figure things out and make another NCAA run. They just need to concentrate and play their game to their abilities, very generic but true. I would say something bout wrestling, but I dont know much about it.
Anyway it's time to get back to studying for my religion final. I also need to work out at some point, hopefully I can find some time. Sorry for my rant I just had to get some things off my chest. Just like everyday it's a beautiful day on campus, and a great day to be alive and be a CYCLONE! GO STATE! And GOD BLESS!!!

Dead Week
Welcome to my blog! I have never really done this and I doubt anyone is reading this.
If you have read my profile you will know that I am a weather nerd. I started off as a Meteorology major here at ISU, but I changed to Journalism due to the difficulty of the program here. I still plan on getting the degree but at a different school. Anyway back on topic there is a major winter storm bearing down on Iowa and the upper Midwest of the next couple of days, the track has changed which happens a lot with winter storms and sadly has taken it north and I am not going to be getting as much snow as I had hoped for here in Ames. Oh well.
Oh and it's also dead week, and I have a final on friday and get to go home in 8 days! I have been here for the better part of 6 months and I am very excited to go home for more than a week. However I have to get to that point which means a lot of studying and finishing up a project.
Well I hope that was a good first post, I probably get back to studying and stuff..aka nap. Have a good day and GO STATE!
